Thesaurus Maintenance WG   Developing a model for sustainable interoperable thesauri maintenance

Topics: Interoperability, Sustainability Our WG is needed in DARIAH as: It increases collaboration among scholars from all fields of the humanities and digital specialists It enables the integration of the research community, while maintaining the individuality of their scientific approach It acts as a feasibility study for building a service that will provide methodological guidance for users to create new vocabularies. It is an interdisciplinary project addressing all Arts and Humanities communities

Services We will develop the specific ontology driven faceted analysis of thesaurus development (platform), which allows for integrating existing and new systems of terminology in a common concise and manageable framework regardless of the size of the systems under consideration. As a service, we will provide the hosting and technical maintenance of a faceted back-bone thesaurus in the form of Linked Open Data (LoD) in SKOS format, and the curation of this thesaurus supported by S/W which manages the dialogue between users, domain experts, ontology experts and the surveilling curator about improvement/enhancement proposals etc. of the backbone thesaurus.
