3 Bi- and multilateral EUREKA calls Austria has already participated in a number of bi- and multilateral calls (AT-FR, AT-TR, E! Multilateral Call, AT-DE-CH) Our flexible funding system allows to participate in such initiatives easily. Austria supports the E! Danube Initiative and has taken over its co-ordination. 4 EUREKA Project Funding The funding for EUREKA projects is mostly provided by the „FFG General Programme“. It‘s a bottom-up funding programme for experimental development projects and allows submissions at any time. Funding decisions are taken 7x/year in a non- competitive procedure. Eurostars-2 is well supported in Austria, 3.5 Mio. € from the BMWFW (+EU funding) are available per year. 5 Danube Region Project Example Eurostars-Project E!8213 TRIPLE-S Microscope “Combined Scanning Electron-, Scanning Ion- and High-Speed Scanning Atomic Force Microscope” Austria (2 SME), Bulgaria (1 SME), Switzerland (Res.I.) Approved in Eurostars CoD 10, runs from 1.9.2013 till 31.8.2016 “This project will create a triple-scanning microscope (TRIPLE-S) by merging a dual beam microscope with a novel high-speed atomic force microscope developed for high-speed nano- characterization in vacuum.
