Das Wetter – teacher’s notes After you have introduced the weather expressions, you can complete the listening activity with your pupils. If you wish to practise writing, use the poster containing the map of Germany called das Wetter where your pupils can fill in the weather for various cities in Germany. You can also use the listening activity provided as a writing activity (get your pupils to write down what they hear). Other ideas: Every morning, ask your pupils this question in German: Wie ist das Wetter heute? You could have a das Wetter poster for each month, for your pupils to record the weather and temperature each day (using the weather symbol or writing the sentence). You could have a summary of each weather pattern at the end of each month Im Januar, ist das Wetter schön ist es bewölkt You could also do some maths and calculate : Die Durchschnittstemperatur beträgt... (the average temperature) for each month Die Durchschnittstemperatur im Januar beträgt 5 Grad. You could also do some geography: get some pupils to select a country, with 3 or 4 major cities, and design a poster which will include information about weather/temperatures in these cities.
