Auf Deutsch Adjectives are traditionally presented in three categories: Adjectives preceded by der and dieser- words Adjectives preceded by ein- words Adjectives that are not preceded Masc.Fem.Neu.Pl. Preceded by der- words Nom.-e -en Akk.-en-e -en Preceded by ein- words Nom.-er-e-es-en Akk.-en-e-es-en unprecededNom.-er-e-es-e Akk.-en-e-es-e
Adjectives following der and dieser- words have the –e in all three genders and in the nominative and accusative cases, with the exception of the masculine accusative form, which is –en. All plural forms end in –en. Der blaue Pulli gefällt mir. Ich kaufe mir den blauen Pulli.
Adjectives following ein-words, as well as unpreceded adjectives, must show gender with masculine and neuter nouns. Dein griechischer Käse schmeckt toll! Griechischer Käse schmeckt toll.
In the plural, adjectives following der and ein- words have the ending –en, unpreceded adjectives have the ending –e. Adjectives following numbers larger than one and words such as einige, mehrere, viele, also end in –e. Wo sind die / meine braunen Schuhe? Ich trage braune Schuhe gern. Wir haben zwei große Autos in der Garage. Und wir haben auch mehrere schöne Fahrräder.
All adjective endings in the dative (and genitive) case have the ending –en. Du siehst gut aus in dem / diesem / deinem roten Kleid.
