Zonta helps achieve HIV-free generation, prevent and respond to gender-based violence in Rwanda 27 February 2017 In cooperation with the U.S. Fund for UNICEF, Zonta International supported efforts to eliminate mother-to-child transmission of HIV and gender-based violence in Rwanda from 2008 to 2016. Voices against Violence curriculum implemented in 35 countries 14 July 2016 Zonta International committed US$986,000 to UN Women in the 2014-2016 Biennium to prevent and reduce gender discrimination and violence against women and girls through non-formal education and youth engagement and leadership. With Zonta's support, UN Women and the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (WAGGGS) developed Voices against Violence, a unique international non-formal education program on ending violence against girls and women. Trainers who attended the four training workshops held between December 2014 and January 2016 have produced their own national training plans. As a result, there are action plans in 35 countries. New update reports on progress of Delaying Early Marriage in Niger project 17 November 2017 A new report is available on the Delaying Early Marriage in Niger project from the period of January – June 2017. Click here to read it. Zonta International has worked with UNFPA to reduce early marriage and early pregnancy in Niger since 2014. The program is intended to provide teenage girls in Niger with new skills, health knowledge, and social and economic empowerment. An additional US$1 million has been dedicated to this project for the 2016-2018 Biennium. This contribution will reach an additional 11,000 adolescent girls. Gegen Menschenhandel in Nepal mit UN Women Spezifische Ziele: Schaffung einer Umgebung, die ermöglicht, zu Hause und in den Gemeinden gegen die strukturellen Barrieren, geschlechtsspezifische Diskriminierung und die stereotypen intergenerationellen Sozialisationsmuster anzutreten. 1. Stärkung der individuellen Kompetenzen der Fremdarbeiterinnen und Überlebenden des Menschenhandels, um wirtschaftlich unabhängig zu werden durch berufliche Schulung und öffentliche, private Partnerschaften. 2. Übereinstimmung/Synergien verbessern zwischen Institutionen und der Politik zu Fremdarbeitern und Menschenhandel 3. New update reports on progress of The Future We Want Project in Nepal 13 December 2017 A new report is available on The Future We Want project in Nepal from the period of April – August 2017. Click here to read it. Zonta International has committed US$1 million to UN Women to create sustainable foundations for addressing the links between human trafficking and foreign labor migration of women and girls in Nepal. This project will directly benefit 600 trafficking survivors and vulnerable women migrants. Indirect beneficiaries include 100,000 young people, community leaders, local authorities, camp coordinators, schools, families of migrants and members of networks from earthquake-affected districts.
