Seit wann sind Sie krank? Since when have you been ill?

The time expression ‘seit’ means ‘since’ or ‘for’ in English. seit gestern since yesterday seit vier Tagen for four days

Unlike in English, ‘seit’ is used with the present tense in German. Ich habe seit drei Tagen Kopfschmerzen I have had a headache for 3 days
