A Modal verb is used with another verb. A modal verb helps the other verb to express its meaning The other verb is always an INFINITIVE and goes to the END of the sentence! You must help me!!

Modal verbs müssen and dürfen Ich darf… (I am allowed to…) Ich muss … (I have to…./I must…) Ich darf nicht….. (I am not allowed to…) Ich darf keinen/keine/kein…. (I am not allowed a…)

Achtung! The English I must not does NOT translate as Ich muss nicht.. ! Ich muss nicht.. means I don t have to – the exact opposite to I must not!
