Beziehungen zwischen Jugendlichen und Erwachsenen (relationships between young people and adults)

Ich komme gut mit…aus Ich verstehe mich nicht gut mit….

Meine Eltern geben mir viel Taschengeld! 1 2 Meine Eltern akzeptieren meine Meinung nicht! 9 Meine Mutter gibt mir viel Freiheit. Meine Mutter mag meine Klamotten nicht! 3 Mein Vater kann meinen Freund nicht leiden! 8 4 7 Meine Stiefmutter ist sehr tolerant und verständnisvoll. Meine Eltern akzeptieren meinen Freundeskreis nicht! 6 5 Ich kann immer meine Freunde zu mir einladen. Meine Mutter ist sehr streng!

Deutsch Englisch die Freiheit kann ….nicht leiden der Freundeskreis zu mir einladen streng akzeptieren meine Meinung verständnisvoll freedom can’t stand circle of friends invite to my house strict to accept my opinion understanding

Combining an opinion with giving a reason: Ich verstehe mich gut mit meiner Mutter. (I get on well with my mother) (opinion) Sie gibt mir viel Freiheit. (reason) Ich komme nicht gut mit meinem Vater aus. (I don’t get on well with my father) (opinion) Er ist zu streng. (reason)

Let’s have a look at how to make 1 sentence out of 2! Ich verstehe mich nicht gut mit meinem Vater Er ist zu streng Ich verstehe mich nicht gut mit meinem Vater, weil er zu streng ist (because)

REMEMBER? The conjunction ‘weil’ smells so ‘VILE’ that the verb (ist) runs a mile!!!! In other words: when you use ‘weil’, the VERB has to go to the END of the SENTENCE!

Using a positive comment with a negative reason or the other way round Ich verstehe mich gut mit meiner Mutter. (I get on well with my mother) (opinion) Sie ist zu streng. (reason) Ich komme nicht gut mit meinen Eltern aus. (I don’t get on well with my parents) (opinion) Sie geben mir viel Freiheit. (reason)

Let’s have a look at how to make 1 sentence out of 2! Ich komme nicht gut mit meinen Eltern aus. Sie geben mir viel Freiheit Ich komme nicht gut mit meinen Eltern aus, obwohl sie mir viel Freiheit geben (although)

What happened there? The conjunction ‘obwohl’ behaves just like the conjunction ‘weil’ - the conjugated verb (geben) runs to the END of the SENTENCE!!!!!!!
