The two large fan modules located to the left of the chassis rear panel provide cooling for the server compute module bays The power supply modules and the active power supply filler modules provide cooling for the hot swap hard drive bay located at the front of the system The I/O cooling module located at the front of the system provides cooling for the I/O modules located in the center of the chassis rear panel The chassis management module monitors system temperatures and the status of the various cooling modules and controls system fan speed. If the CMM is removed from the system or is otherwise unavailable, the system fans will automatically change to full speed. The cooling subsystem is designed to provide sufficient cooling to a fully loaded system with a single failed cooling module; a failed cooling module or power supply should be replaced as soon as is practically possible.
