Wie viele Freizeitaktivitäten kennst du? Sage immer den Infinitiv! (how many leisure activities do you know? Always say the infinitive!)

ins Kino gehen in die Stadt gehenin die Disco gehen ins Theater gehen ins Konzert gehen ins Café gehen schwimmen geheneinkaufen gehen

essen gehen Musik hörenMusik machen Tennis spielen Fußball spielen Basketball spielenKarten spielen

Computerspiele spielen Freunde treffenkochen fernsehen London nach London fahren

Du möchtest am Samstag mit deiner Freundin/deinem Freund ausgehen. Du fragst: Hast du Lust……? (Do you fancy…?)

gehen INFINITIVE in die Disco duHastLustin die Discogehen zu Do you fancy going to the disco?

spielen INFINITIVE Tennis duHastLustTennisspielen zu Do you fancy playing tennis?

So whats up? When you use the expression Lust haben as in Hast du Lust…. you need to have zu before the INFINITIVE. Hast du Lust in die Disco zu gehen?

sehen INFINITIVE duHastLustsehen zu Do you fancy watching telly? fern

What happened there? fernsehen is a separable verb. fern is the prefix and sehen is the main verb. When you use it after an expression like Hast du Lust… thezu is sandwiched between the prefix (fern) and the main verb (sehen) Hast du Lust fernzusehen?

Auf der nächsten Seite siehst du 5 Aktivitäten. Schreibe 5 Fragen mit Hast du Lust….

duHastLustin die Stadtgehen zu HastduLusteinkaufen zu gehen HastduLustFreunde zu treffen Hast duLustMusik zu machen duLustessen zu gehen

There are other ways of asking someone to go out. Lets have a look! Sollen wir…..+ INF Möchtest du…+ INF Wie wäre es mit..+ INF Shall we….? Would you like to…? How about….?

spielen INFINITIVE wir Fußball SollenFußballspielen duMöchtest Fußballspielen (Shall we play football?) (Would you like to play football?) wäreFußballspielen (How about playing football?) Wieesmit

Have you noticed anything? Exactly: there was no zu before the INFINITIVE. This is because MODAL verbs never have a zu before the INFINITIVE!

Schreibe die Sätze auf Deutsch! Would you like to cook? How about playing cards? Shall we travel to London? Would you like to play computer games? How about going swimming? Shall we go to the theatre? Would you like to watch telly?

Schreibe die Sätze auf Deutsch! Möchtest du kochen? Wie wäre es mit Karten spielen? Sollen wir nach London fahren? Möchtest du Computerspiele spielen? Wie wäre es mit schwimmen gehen? Sollen wir ins Theater gehen? Möchtest du fernsehen?
