Indirect objects tell to whom or to what or for whom or for what the action of the verb is done.  If a sentence has an indirect object, it always has a direct object.  The indirect objects are underlined; Sandra buys Martin a T-Shirt.For whom does Sanda buy the T-Shirt? She buys him a T-Shirt.For whom does she buy the T-Shirt? Martin gives his Oma flowers. To whom does Martin give flowers?  Vollständige Aktivität A auf s. 53 (allein)  2 Minuten  Mit ein Partner überprüfe deine Arbeit  1 Minute

Auf Deutsch  The indirect object is signaled by the dative case.  The usual word order is indirect object first, followed by the direct object. Indirect ObjectDirect Object Sandra kauftdem Martinein T-Shirt.

 In sentences where the indirect object is emphasized, the indirect object can be used in first position. Indirect ObjectDirect Object Dem Martin kauft Sandraein T-Shirt.

 In the following examples the indirect objects are boldfaced and the direct objects are underlined: Sandra kauft Martin ein T-Shirt.Sie kauft ihm ein T-Shirt. Martin gibt seiner Oma Blumen.Seiner Oma gibt Martin Blumen. Wem gibt Martin die Blumen?Seinem Oma.
