Comparatives – using them in a sentence. Meine Stadt ist schön Meine Stadt ist schöner als London. (My town is prettier than London.)

Practise what you have just learnt! 1. als 2.als 3. als Das Land ist ruhiger als die Stadt Ein Fahrrad ist langsamer als ein Auto Pommes Frites sind leckerer als Gemüse

Exceptions Usually if an adjective has one SYLLABLE and has a vowel (a,u,o) it will add an umlaut to it! As you are well aware German is full of exceptions and you just need to learn them as you go along. alt älter gross grösser

Others like this jung jünger kurzkürzer warmwärmer starkstärker

These ones are totally irregular and you just need to learn off by heart! gut viel hoch besser (better) mehr (more) höher (higher)

MatheeinfachGeschichte FußballlangweiligGolf ShakespeareschwierigRoald Dahl Mt EveresthochBen Nevis SpursgutArsenal Lets practice some more.

Superlatives Meine Stadt ist schön Deine Stadt ist die schönste Stadt Just add ste to the end of the adjective to make it the most… e.g. the most beautiful. (You need to know the gender of the item, either der, die or das.)

Lets practice! small modern quiet expensive cheap klein modern ruhig teuer billig ste

There are actually two ways of using the superlative: The first, we have already learnt: e.g Bath ist die schönste Stadt Bath is the prettiest town. However, if you want want to say - My town is the prettiest (no noun), it is formed slightly differently. You add (e)sten to the adjective and put am in front of it! e.g Meine Stadt ist am schönsten.

Test yourself! Bath is the most modern city Bath ist die modernste Stadt Your cat is bigger than mine! Deine Katze ist größer als meine! She is the smallest woman! Sie ist die kleinste Frau! I am more intelligent than you! Ich bin intelligenter als du
