Homework Kursbuch, Seite 161. Formulate questions. If you have to answer with no, think about something else you’ve done: „Bist du schon mal nach Australien geflogen?“ „Nein, aber ich bin schon mal nach Brasilien geflogen.“

The simple past of “sein” and “haben” ich du er/sie/es wir ihr sie/Sie war hatte warst hattest waren hatten wart hattet „Warst du schon einmal in Deutschland?“ „Nein, ich war leider noch nicht dort.“ „Warum warst du nicht einkaufen?“ „Ich hatte kein Geld.“

Ich war schon mal … In welchem Land warst du schon mal? In welcher Stadt warst du schon mal? Warst du schon mal in Europa?

Summary “Lektion 11 und 12” you are able to use the past perfect with “haben” and “sein”: “Ich habe gestern Deutsch gelernt.” “Letztes Wochenende sind wir ins Kino gegangen.”  you need a conjugated form of “haben” or “sein” and the past participle of the verb (the past participle comes last!) you use “sein” for verbs of movement or change (e.g. “gehen” or “aufwachen”) exception!: “bleiben, geblieben” (= to stay) and “sein, gewesen” you can use different time prepositions correctly: “von … bis” (interval), “im” (month, season), “am” (day, day time, date), “um” (time), “seit” (starting point), “vor” (= before), “nach” (= after), no preposition for the year! you know the conjugated forms of “sein” and “haben” in the simple past (ich war, ich hatte, du warst, du hattest … )
