We need: 1. to be 2. past participle of the predicate/verb The Passive Voice We need: 1. to be 2. past participle of the predicate/verb Infinitive Past Tense Past Participle to drive drove driven to be Present Tense Present Perfect Past Tense Future Tense I you/we/they he/she/it am driven have been was will be are have been were will be is has been was will be

Note: There is no difference like werde, wirst, wird, wurde, werdet, … Instead, there is always the corresponding form of to be: am, is, are, was… Note: Contrary to German, sentences in the passive voice always begin with the subject in the nominative (Wer oder was?) German = English Ich werde gefahren. I am driven. Der Mann wurde gefragt. The man was asked. German ≠ English Mir wird erzählt. I am told. Ihm wurde das Essen gebracht. He was brought the meal.

Note: In all tenses being is used to express the continuous/progressive form. Where are you? I am driven to the airport. being What did the kids do when you met them? They were told a story. being
