Germersheim ist unter anderem bekannt für seine Festung. Das Kriegerdenkmal ist den Gefallenen der Stadt während des ersten und des zweiten Weltkrieges gewidmet. The war memorial is dedicated to the fallen people during the first and the second world war.

Dieses hufeisenförmige Gebäude ist ein Teil der ehemaligen Festugsanlage Fronte Beckers und beherbergt heute die Musikschule und das Jugendzentrum. Die Stengelkaserne ist auch Teil der Festung und wie es auf den Schildern heißt ist der Zutritt nur für Berechtigte, da es militärischer Bereich ist. The Stengelkaserne is a barrack and part of the fortress. As you can read on the signs the admittance is for beneficiaries only, because it is military area.

Octroi-lodge From 1843 until 1924 octroi and market charges were claimed for the town. The Octroi was a consumption tax on groceries, semiluxury food and heating fuel. Market charges had to be paid for the imported goods for the weekly market. Lateron here was the weighbridge and the office of weighs and measures.
