There are three command forms - one for each form of address ( i.e. each “you”) 1. you (formal): Sie 2. you (familiar plural): ihr 3. you (familiar singular): du

2 you: Sie (formal) Rufen Sie mich an! Schreiben Sie! (Do the homework!)
This command is formed by simply reversing the word order. Like in a question, the command begins with the Verb: (Write!) Schreiben Sie! (Do the homework!) Machen Sie die Hausaufgaben! (Call me!) Rufen Sie mich an!

3 you: ihr (familiar plural)
This command is formed similarly – reverse word order BUT do not use the pronoun “ihr”. (Write!) Schreibt! (Do the homework!) Macht die Hausaufgaben! (Call me!) Ruft mich an!

4 you: du (familiar singular)
Again reverse the word order , drop the pronoun AND the verb ending: (Write!) Schreib ! (Do the homework!) Mach die Hausaufgaben! (Call me!) Ruf mich an!

5 exclamation mark / “bitte” / “doch”
for more emphasis you can add an exclamation mark: Kommt herein! to “soften” the command you can add “bitte”: Bitte, machen Sie die Tür zu. Machen Sie die Tür zu, bitte. Machen Sie bitte die Tür zu. for more urgency you can add “doch” Ruf mich doch an.

7 “Would you (please) do s.th.” “Würden Sie (bitte) etwas machen.”
POLITE REQUESTS If the command / imperative sounds to strong (or if you are not quite sure how to form it) this form can be used as an alternative. It corresponds quite literally to the English “Would you (please) do s.th.” “Würden Sie (bitte) etwas machen.” the only difference being - as usual - that the second verb “do = machen” appears at the end of the German clause. It is in the infitive!!!

8 WÜRDE ich würde du würdest er, sie, es würde wir würden ihr würdet
“würde” for those who want to know is the subjunctive form of the verb “werden”, just as “would” is the subjunctive form of “will”. It is conjugated like this (same way as "möchten"): ich würde du würdest er, sie, es würde wir würden ihr würdet sie würden

9 WÜRDE Now conjugate "würden on you own":
ich du er, sie, es wir ihr sie würde würdest würden würdet
