5 The picture shows soldiers on a train. They thought they were going to their homes but they were taken to the eastern front line. They were hurt and hungry. Some of them met old friends.

12 For the first time women had to work to care for the family because men were in the war. They were very worried about their husbands There was also hunger and sickness. The women worked in factories and on the fields. FAMILY-SITUATION DURING THE WAR
