Ich wohne in Bracknell. In der Stadt ist es ziemlich laut, aber es wird schon besser. Es gibt viel Verkehr, aber die Autos und Motorräder fahren nicht durch die Stadtmitte, weil es eine neue Fußgängerzone gibt. Jetzt ist die Luft nicht schlecht. Die Busse fahren aber durch die Fußgängerzone, und sie produzieren immer noch etwas Lärm, Abgase und Rauch. Am Stadtrand gibt es ein neues Straßenbahnnetz, und die Straßenbahnen sind viel besser für die Umwelt. Sie produzieren wenig Lärm und keine Abgase! I live in Bracknell. In the town it is quite loud, but it is getting better. There is a lot of traffic but the cars and motorbikes don’t drive through the town centre because there is a new pedestrian area. Now the air isn’t so bad. But the buses drive through the zone and they still produce noise, fumes and smoke. On the outskirts there is a new tram network and the trams are much better for the environment. They produce less noise and no fumes. My Town and Local Environment 1 My name is Martin and I live in London in England. I like London, but for me there are too many people and too much traffic. The river, which flows through London – the Thames – is very polluted and the air is awful. There are too many skyscrapers. The whole city is a concrete jungel. I don‘t like that. 2 My name is Diana and I live in Dresden, it is in East Germany. Pollution is a big problem with us: there are too many factories, which pollute the air. Nature is being destryoed everywhere, I find that terrible. 3 I am called Anke and I live in Frankfurt in Germany. Frankfurt is a big city – there are lots of problems there. Worst of all is the rubbish – there are not enough paper and glass recycling containers. So the whole city os full of litter. I find that awful. 4 I am called Paul and I live in Paris – that is the capital city of France. Paris Paris is a beautiful city – but there is simply too much traffic. Ich mag London, aber für mich gibt es zu viele Menschen und zu viel Verkehr. Der Fluß, der durch London fließt – die Themse – ist sehr verschmutzt, und die Luft ist schrecklich. Es gibt viele Wolkenkratzer. Die ganze Stadt ist ein richtiger Betonklotz – das mag ich nicht. 2 Ich heisse Diana und ich wohne in Dresden, das ist in Ostdeutschland. Umweltverschmutzung ist ein großes Problem bei uns: es gibt zu viele Fabriken, die die Luft verschmutzen. Die Natur ist überall zerstört – das finde ich schrecklich. 3 Ich heisse Anke, und ich wohne in Frankfurt in Deutschland. Frankfurt ist eine grosse Stadt – da gibt es viele Probleme. Am schlimmsten ist es mit dem Müll – es gibt zu wenige Altpapier- und Altglascontainer. Also, die ganze Stadt ist voll mit Abfall – das finde ich furchtbar. 4 Ich heisse Paul und ich wohne in Paris – das ist die Hauptstadt von Frankreich. Paris ist eine schöne Stadt – aber es gibt einfach zu viel Verkehr. Überall gibt es Stau und die Abgase der Autos verpesten die Luft.
