 Der BC-4 (U 953: 19“ Version) bindet die Kopfstelle an TCP/IP Netzwerke an  Die Konfiguration erfolgt zweistufig (Admin-Level, User-Level) über Web-Interface  Falls Spare-Equipment vorhanden, schaltet der BC-4 z.B. bei Hardwarefehlern oder Signalverlust automatisch auf Redundanzkomponenten um  Im Admin-Level erfolgen z.B. Netzwerkeinstellungen, Anlegen von Usern, Festlegen des Servers für automatische Firmwareupdates, Alarmeinstellungen, Reboot oder Shutdown des Buscontrollers u.ä.

 Der User-Level ermöglicht den Zugang zu Betriebsparametern, wie die Übersicht über den aktuellen Zustand aller vorhandenen Module, das Einleiten eines manuellen Firmwareupdates bis hin zur Konfiguration des automatischen, zeitgesteuerten Firmwareupdates

 Die eigentliche Konfiguration des Headends erfolgt über die bewährte HE-Programmiersoftware, in der z.B. die Eingangs- und Ausgangsparameter eingestellt werden können.  Die gesamte Konfiguration des Headends wird im BC-4 abgespeichert, so dass eine lokale Speicherung (PC) überflüssig ist.  Z.B. übernimmt der BC-4 automatisch die Inbetriebnahme eines (falls nötig) ausgetauschten Modules, ohne dass ein Service-Techniker aktiv in die Konfiguration eingreifen muss.  In Verbindung mit dem in Q1/2009 erscheinenden Ausgangsscanners werden periodisch alle QAM-, PAL- und FM-Signale auf Vorhandensein getestet und im Bedarfsfall vom BC-4 ersatzgeschaltet.
