3 While in Europe the industrial revolution was flourishing, in Italy there was a totally different situation characterised by a rural economy. Während sich die industrielle Revolution in Europa verbreitete, sah die Situation in Italien ganz anders aus: die Landwirschaft spielte noch eine ganz wichtige Rolle bei uns.

4 In Italy there wasnt political unity, infact our contry was divided into different States. In Italien gab es damals keine politische Einheit und unsere Nation bestand aus verschiedenen Staaten.

5 But Italians began to think of Italy as a united nation thanks to the language, the religion and the economic interests. Wir hatten keine einheitliche Nation, aber wir sprachen alle die selbe Sprache, hatten die selbe Religion und die selben wirtschaftlichen Interessen.

6 Italians began to fight for the unity and the indipendence of the country above of all against the Austrian Empire. Natürlich musste man lange kämpfen, bevor man diese politische Einheit erreichen konnte!

7 In 1861 Italy became a Kingdom under the reign of Vittorio Emanuele II. Die Italiener erreichten die Einheit im Jahr 1861 unter dem König Vittorio Emanuele dem Zweiten.

8 1861 - 1865 Vom Jahr 1861 bis zum Jahr 1865 war Turin unsere Hauptstadt.

9 1865 – 1870 Dann, vom Jahr 1865 bis zum Jahr 1870 war unsere Hauptstadt Florenz (in der Toskana).

10 In 1870 with the annection of the Churchs State, Rome became the capital of Italy. Erst im Jahr 1870, neun Jahre nach der politischen Einheit, wurde Rom endlich Hauptstadt.

13 NAME: Tricolore DATE OF BIRTH: 14 November 1794 WHERE: Bologna EXPERIENCES: it was used by Giuseppe Mazzini during the Risorgimento and in 1923 it became the official flag of Italy. Diese Fahne wurde von Giuseppe in der Zeit der liberalen Bewegungen zur Einheit Mazzini benutzt und blieb dann unsere offizielle Fahne.

14 The Italian flag comes from the French one, because it had to represent the same things: EQUALITY JUSTICE GERECHTIGKEIT FRATERNITY Die italienische Flagge ist ähnlich wie die französiche Flagge, weil sie die gleichen Ideale darstellen will. GLEICHEIT BRÜDERLICHKEIT

16 It was written by Goffredo Mameli when he was only 20 years old, during the risorgimento, in which everybody had a strong sense of patriotism. Es wurde von Goffredo Mameli geschrieben, als er 20 Jahre war, während des Risorgimento, als alle ein Gefühl des Vaterlandes hatten.

17 Its name is Canto degli italiani but everybody knows it as the Inno di Mameli. Sein name ist Canto degli italiani aber alle kennen sie als Inno di Mameli.

19 Der Risorgimento in Italien markierte die politische Einheit, aber hatte noch keine eigentliche Nation gebildet.

20 Despite being proud to be Italian, as long as you think only of your region, you can not really speak of a unified country… Auch wenn du stolz bist, Italiener zu sein, solange du nur an deine Region denkst, kannst du nicht wirklich von einer einheitlichen Nation sprechen…….

21 Between the North and South there is a different idea of country and society: Northern Italy is industrialised and very developed while the South remains less modern. Zwischen Norden und Süden gibt es eine andere Vorstellung von Nation und Gesellschaft: Norditalien ist industrialisiert und sehr entwickelt, während der Süden bleibt weniger modern.

22 Italians see themselves as a people when they are outside Italy. They see that they are different from the others for their art of making do, the importance of the family, local life and traditions. Sehr oft fühlen sich Italiener als solche nur wenn sie im Ausland sind, aber sie identifizien sich in Werte wie Familie und Tradition.
