Ich habe………verloren! (I lost……)

As you know there are three genders in German. If you think of them as man words (masc), woman words (fem) and thing words (neuter) it might be easier to understand that in German all nouns behave as if you were talking about your brother, your sister or your mobile! I lost my brother.I lost my rucksack. I lost him on the bus.I lost him on the bus. He is small. He is brown. Example:

Lets remind ourselves how to say I lost my…. again using masculine (man words) feminine (women words) neuter (thing words) plural words.

Subj.VerbObj.Verb Ichhabemeinen Rucksack verloren Ichhabemeine Brille verloren Ichhabemein Handy verloren Ichhabemeine Schlüssel verloren

Now you want to say where you lost your item. Instead of repeating the item again, replace e.g. meine Brille with a pronoun. Example: I lost her on the bus. masculine ihn (him) feminine sie (her) neuter es (it) plural sie (them)

Subj.VerbPronVerb Ichhabeihn verloren Ichhabesie verloren Ichhabees verloren Ichhabesie verloren where im Bus

Now you want to say what your item looks like. Again, replace e.g. meine Brille with a pronoun. Example: She is pink masculine er (he) feminine sie (she) neuter es (it) plural sie (they)

Subj. pronounVerb Erist pink description braun istSie Esist von Nokia Siesindgolden

Now give descriptions of the items you lost as in the example below: gestern bunt (colourful) – aus Nylon Ich habe mein en Regenschirm verloren!
