MODAL VERBS Modal verbs are special verbs (you probably already know them!) and they exist in English and German. can/be able to = können (Ich kann) must/have to = müssen (Ich muss) want = wollen (Ich will) allow to/may = dürfen (Ich darf) should = sollen (Ich soll) like = mögen (Ich mag)

The rules: 1.Conjugate the verb (put it in the correct form, i.e. He/I/we)

2.Modal verbs NEED another verb. This other verb MUST be in the INFINITIVE (dictionary form, ends in an –en) and at the END of the sentence. Ich muss heute abend X-Factor sehen. Ich will nicht mehr zu Karate gehen. Ich mag Musik hören. Ich kann nicht morgen meine Oma besuchen.

MODAL VERB PRACTICE 1 Leider kann ich heute Abend nicht ins Kino _______ (to go) Ich will nicht meine Hausaufgaben ______ (to do) Ich darf nicht dieses Wochenende X-Factor _____ (to see) Zum Glück muss ich in den Ferien keine Hausaufgaben _____ (to do)
