Saying what you will do on your holiday-using the future tense Mein Urlaub Saying what you will do on your holiday-using the future tense (Ich werde= I will)

Mein Urlaub Ich werde… wandern gehen Rad fahren

Mein Urlaub Ich werde… schwimmen zelten

Mein Urlaub Ich werde… mich sonnen faulenzen Fotos machen

Mein Urlaub Ich werde surfen Ski fahren in die Disco gehen

Mein Urlaub Ich werde… die Sehenswürdigkeiten besichtigen Bücher lesen

Mein Urlaub: using ‘um…zu’ Using juicy phrases! To make what we say more interesting, it is a good idea to give reasons for doing something. One way of doing this is to say, “I will / am going to… in order to…” To do this in German, the phrase we need to use is ‘um… zu’.

Mein Urlaub: using ‘um…zu’ What does this mean? “Ich werde nach Schottland fahren, um zu zelten.” NB. The main verb, ending in –en, must come after ‘zu’. Like ‘weil’, the phrase ‘um…zu’ sends the verb to the end of the sentence.

Mein Urlaub: using ‘um…zu’ “Ich werde nach Deutschland fahren, um die Sehenswürdigkeiten zu besichtigen.” Only the verb goes after ‘zu’, everything else goes between ‘um’ and ‘zu’. “Ich werde nach Österreich fahren, um Ski zu fahren.
