There are 4 possible answers using: like, dislike, love and hate… There are other structures that can be used for liking and disliking – this ine has been chosen because it is free of verb and gender complications. + = Ich mag Basketball. INPUT: revise ‘Ich mag’ – students already know ‘Basketball’ and are challenged to recall this

= + Ich mag nicht Fußball. INPUT: teach ‘Ich mag nicht’ – students already know ‘Fußball’ and are challenged to recall this

= + Ich liebe Tischtennis. INPUT: teach ‘Ich liebe’ – students already know ‘Tischtennis’ and are challenged to recall this. ‘Liebe’ is not a cognate but students could make up a story to remember this word e.g starts with [l] etc.

= + Ich hasse INPUT: teach ‘Ich hasse’ – students already know ‘Tennis’ and are challenged to recall this. ‘Hasse’ is practically a cognate. Tennis.
