To form the past tense(with haben): l You need: l A bit of haben e.g. Ich habe… l a ge word at the end of the sentence e.g. gespielt. l Its as simple as that! l Ich habe Fussball gespielt. l Ich habe meine Hausaufgabe gemacht. l Ich habe Pizza gegessen.

Wie sagt man das…? l I played golf. l Ich habe Golf gespielt.

Und das…? l I played basketball l Ich habe Basketball gespielt.

Was passt zusammen? l Ich habe Salat gegessen. l Ich habe Musik gekauft. l Ich habe Chips gegessen. l I ate some crisps. l I ate a salad. l I bought some music.

Time Phrases l gestern l vorgestern l gestern Abend l letzte Woche l letztes Wochenende l letzten Monat l letztes Jahr l am Montag, Dienstag, Mittwoch etc. l yesterday l day before yesterday l last night l last week l last weekend l last month l last year l on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday etc.

Making longer past tense sentences: l If we want to put a time expression in the sentence (e.g. last week / yesterday) you need to swap the Verb (doing word), in this case the bit of haben and the Pronoun (the person doing it) around. l E.g. Letzte Woche habe ich Tennis gespielt.

Du bist dran! l Last week I bought some chocolate. l On Saturday I drank beer. l Last year I made a poster. l Letzte Woche habe ich Schokolade gekauft. l Am Samstag habe ich Bier getrunken. l Letztes Jahr habe ich ein Poster gemacht.

Wie sagt man das? l Last Saturday I ate a hamburger with cheese and salad. l Letzte Woche habe ich ein Hamburger mit Käse und Salat gegessen.

Und das? l Last weekend I danced at the disco. l Letzte Wochenende habe ich in die Disko getanzt.

Du bist drann… l Write an account of what you did in the past. Write about hobbies, food and other things. You should have around 50 words. For max. grades try to include future, connectives and opinions. It is possible to achieve a level 6a!!!
