Interrogative Words

Interrogative words, also called question words are used to ask for information.

Interrogatives wann? warum? was? welcher/welche/welches? wen? wer? when? why? what? which? whom? who?

Interrogatives wie? wie viel? wie viele? wo? woher? wohin? how? how much? how many? where? where (from)? where (to)?

To ask an information question. Begin the question with an interrogative word. Wann beginnen wir? Was machst du? Wer ist Frau Miller? Warum machen Sie das? Wo sind sie? Woher kommst du?

Welcher The form of welcher depends on the gender and the number of the noun it modifies. Its three forms (welcher/welche/welches) have the same endings as the masculine, feminine/plural, and neuter forms of the definite article (der/die/das). Welcher Professor lehrt Mathematik?
