German numbers are quite a bit like our own. You start with one through ten and then you add 20, 30, 40 or 50 to them. For time you only need to know numbers up to 60. Zero – null, One - eins, two – zwei, three – drei, four – vier, five – fünf, six – sechs, seven – sieben, eight – acht, nine – neun 20 – zwanzig, 30 – dreißig 40 – vierzig, 50 – fünfzig, and 60 – sechzig

However, differently from English the second number goes in front of the first number. So instead of forty two you put the two in front of the four. So, it becomes zweiundvierzig. 35 five and thirty fünfunddreißig 27 seven and twenty siebenundzwanzig 54 four and fifty vierundfünfzig

Time in German is Zeit, but to say o` clock you say Uhr. So 2 o` clock. Es ist zwei Uhr. Es ist… 4 o` clock vier Uhr 5 o` clock fünf Uhr 10 o` clock zehn Uhr 12 o` clock zwölf Uhr When it is one o` clock. You say ein Uhr, NOT eins Uhr.

You add the number of minutes behind Uhr. So if its 2.35, you say its zwei Uhr fünfunddreißig. You keep the minutes connected with und. Instead of fünf und dreißig its fünfunddreißig. Instead of sechs Uhr dreißig, you can also say it is halb sieben. You use the next full hour instead of the current hour. Es ist … 6: 30 halb sieben 7:30 halb acht 4:30 halb fünf 2:30 halb drei 11:30 halb zwölf

If you wanted to say that it is 12 minutes before or 12 after an hour, you use and Vor (before) and Nach (after). People in Germany dont use the AM/PM system, so travelers have to learn the 24 hour system, or military time. To keep from getting confused between morning and night you add morgen (morning), nachmittag (afternoon), or abend (evening). For instance, to say that you are coming over around 6 in the evening, you could say Wir kommen um acht Uhr abends rüber.
