1 When writing a film/literary analysis, you will focus on specific attribute(s) of the film/text. When discussing these attributes, you will want to make sure that you are making a specific, arguable point about them. You will defend this point with reasons and evidence drawn from the text. (Much like a lawyer!)

2 Know the film/book really well Identify the main themes – find the scenes/sections which are relevant – make lists/diagrams to help revision Organise your evidence Ask questions – why did the director/author use X/Y/Z? What point does he/she seem to be making?

6 Point: Alex liebt seine Mutter und hat ein sehr positives Verhältnis zu ihr. Evidence: Szene im Krankenhaus: Während seine Mutter noch im Koma liegt, nimmt er seine Stimme auf Kassette auf. Evaluation: Er will nicht, dass sie sich alleine fühlt wenn keiner da ist. Er beginnt hier die Verantwortung für sie zu übernehmen

7 Kleinkind auf der Datsche - glücklich Teenager ohne Verantwortung – gelangweilt/idealistisch Erwachsene mit Verantwortung – realistisch?

8 P – Alex war als Kind sehr glücklich und sorgenlos. E - Die Szene mit seinen Eltern und Schwester auf der Datsche zeigt eine enge, glückliche Familie. E - Der Regisseur hat diese Szene in Super-8 Aufnahmen gedreht, was die idyllische Szene deutlich in die Vergangenheit setzt und den Kontrast mit seinem späteren Leben unterstreicht
