2 Tampa Bay Blues Fest: Live Blues at its Best! Each year since 1995, some of the biggest names in blues music have taken the stage at the Tampa Bay Blues Festival in St. Petersburg, Florida. Blues enthusiasts from all over the world come to scenic Vinoy Park to watch this spectacular showcase of American Blues music, performed right on the waterfront. With acres of plush grass and palm trees, Vinoy Park is the perfect tropical setting for one of the world’s biggest and best blues concerts. For the 2011 festival, we have introduced two new musical concepts. On Friday & Saturday, we are presenting the “Best of the Fest” series. After consulting other musicians, blues DJs, fans, and concert promoters, we have put together a 2011 artist line up which includes the very best live performers from the festival’s past decade. This informal survey of blues lovers led us to book Michael Burks, Janiva Magness, Rod Piazza & the Mighty Flyers, and The Robert Cray Band on Friday. On Saturday, the selections were Curtis Salgado, Tommy Castro, James Hunter, and Jonny Lang. We believe these two days offer the best live blues shows that you will find anywhere in the country! On Sunday, the festival pays tribute to the great musical traditions of New Orleans with a “Celebrate New Orleans” show. We have engaged five of the top blues artists from the New Orleans area and assembled them in a fantastic Sunday presentation. You will enjoy a day which showcases the best artists from the Big Easy, with Eric Lindell, Jon Cleary, Trombone Shorty, and Irma Thomas – Soul Queen of New Orleans. Closing the show will be Tab Benoit & the Voice of the Wetlands Allstars featuring Cyril Neville, Jumpin’ Johnny Sansone, Big Chief Monk Boudreaux, and other stellar Louisiana musicians. This is the biggest day of New Orleans music ever staged in Florida, and you won’t want to miss it. Tampa Bay Blues Festival has established itself as one of the world's preeminent blues concerts, having presented over 250 of the world's greatest live blues musical performers. Over the years our stage has welcomed legends such as Buddy Guy, George Thorogood, Taj Mahal, Robert Cray, Delbert McClinton, Little Feat, Jonny Lang, Los Lobos, Jerry Lee Lewis, Koko Taylor, Jimmie Vaughan, Irma Thomas, Susan Tedeschi, and others, in what has truly become a magnificent celebration of music! The Blues Music Festival is an ideal setting to enjoy Florida's sunshine and warm spring weather.
