The verb in second place is the finite verb, i.e., the verb that follows the subject of the sentence In questions, the verb is also in second place if the question starts with an interrogative pronoun, e.g., “Was”, “Wo” Exception: the verb is in first place when you ask a yes/no question, e.g., “Spielst du Fußball?”
