3 The [ç] (Hugh)-sound:

4 The [ç] is a soft sound produced at the front of the mouth. It is a similar sound to the English name “Hugh” or “huge” and occurs after the following letters: E I Ä Ö Ü Examples: ich, sprechen, lächeln, Löcher, München

5 The [x] (Lough) Sound:

6 The [x] sound is produced at the back of the throat. It is a similar sound to the Scottish or Irish word “Lough”. It is used whenever the “ch” follows the letters: A O U Au Examples: acht, Woche, Buch, auch
