How the “teens” are formed.. • 13= 3 + 10 – drei + zehn = dreizehn • 14= 4 + 10 – vier + zehn= vierzehn • 15= 5 + 10 – fünf + zehn= fünfzehn • USW (etc)
Teen exceptions… • 16=6 + 10 – Sechzehn (drop S) • 17= 7 + 10 – sieben + zehn = siebzehn (drop -en)

How to make big numbers… • Smaller number goes first • 21= 1 and 20 – ein und zwanzig – einundzwanzig (write them all together!) • 45= 5 and 40 – fünf und vierzig – fünfundvierzig
