Introduction to BOS Supplier Guidelines v6 January 2010

Presentation contents: Objective of the guidelines Functions of the guidelines How the guidelines are intended to be used Structure Contents What’s new? (review of main additions not every detail – there are new points throughout)

Objective of the guidelines Note: This guideline is not a revision of the released V4, it is a totally new edition defining the latest practices in a new layout with additional graphics and help functions. As with all supplier manuals it is a definition of what BOS expects from our suppliers i.e. a rule book. Defining how to work with BOS. Proving formats of documents which must be used. To provide examples of best practice for the suppliers to learn and use. A reference guide for supplier development Provide links to other sites which are useful to the supplier To be a contractual requirement as referred to within the supplier data sheet and the purchase order. To define within BOS a standardised way of working consistently with the supplier base.

Functions of the guidelines Useful functions within this manual Single right click on topic in the above index for short cut to that section. Single right click on for short cut to further information. Single right click on blue document / website to go to the actual document or website. Single right click on for short cut back to index or back to guidelines after looking at an attachment. The target is to have guidelines available in Chinese, English, German and Spanish, but currently they are only available in English. By using the above functions the guideline can be navigated quickly – this is essential for a reference guide such as this. Index Topic

How the guidelines are intended to be used By BOS Encourage the suppliers to use as a reference resource instead of looked at once. Rather than explaining a subject in detail BOS members can direct the supplier to the relevant section within the guideline. Refer to a guideline section within other documents – encourage use and reference. It also provides BOS members with a useful reference resource as many of the processes at BOS are the same as those for the supplier. Good to answer “what if” and “what’s next” type questions. By the Supplier To establish the expectations of BOS and guidance how to meet them. As a reference guide – as many of the topics are industry standard it could be useful for not only working with BOS but also other customers. It is far better that other customers benefit than the guide never being looked at.
