SAP SCM Rapid-Deployment Solution for Advanced Production Scheduling Solution Summary

Sophisticated production scheduling – quickly and affordably Do you have problems with: Determining the optimal order sequence for your production execution Suboptimal production plans that incur never-ending backlogs of important production orders Short or even no notification of resource overloads and subsequent delays in the production execution Lack of transparency regarding planning results and capacity of resources Meeting delivery commitments based on actual constraints on the shop floor There is a solution SAP SCM Rapid-Deployment Solution for Advanced Production Scheduling Lets you fully combine your existing material requirement planning in the SAP® ERP application with sophisticated detailed scheduling in the SAP APO component Without unnecessary replication of master data to SAP APO. Helps you to graphically optimize the production plan while continuing to safeguard the investments made in SAP ERP SAP SCM Rapid-Deployment Solution for Advanced Production Scheduling helps you to implement sophisticated production scheduling quickly and affordably. It supports you in your production planning business, when you encounter problems with: Determining the optimal order sequence for your production execution Suboptimal production plans that incur never-ending backlogs of important production orders Short or even no notification of resource overloads and subsequent delays in the production execution Lack of transparency regarding planning results and capacity of resources Meeting delivery commitments based on actual constraints on the shop floor There is a solution to ease these problems: Advanced production scheduling lets you fully combine your existing material requirement planning in the SAP® ERP application with sophisticated detailed scheduling in the SAP Advanced Planning & Optimization (SAP APO) component with limited replication of master data to SAP APO. This process lets you graphically optimize the production plan leveraging the production planning board while continuing to safeguard the investments made in SAP ERP.

Go Live in 11 Weeks Business Benefits This rapid-deployment solution helps you to: Combine the advantage of using the most- required detailed scheduling functionality while leveraging the investments you made in your existing production planning system Increase accuracy in your production planning Simulate planning results before production execution What’s Included – Solution Scope Production Planning* Create feasible production plans to fulfill the demand in time and to the standard expected by the customer. Detailed Scheduling Create optimized order sequence for production execution based on manual and automated scheduling features. Production Execution** Fully prepare production execution based on optimized scheduling data. Note: * Starting process – configuration not included expect for activation of MRP-based scheduling and data transfer to SAP APO ** Receiving Process – configuration not included except for data transfer This rapid-deployment solution provides the following benefits: It combines the advantage of using the most-required detailed scheduling functionality while leveraging the investments you made in your existing production planning system. It increases accuracy in your production planning It simulates planning results before production execution Regarding the solution scope, this rapid-deployment focuses on the following business processes: Production Planning Production planning functionality in the SAP® ERP application enables you to create feasible production plans to fulfill the customer demand in time and to the standard expected by your customers. For the long- and medium-term time horizon, rough-cut planning is based on time buckets and determines requirements of resources and materials. The planning data generated out of the material requirements planning (MRP) run in SAP ERP is transferred to the SAP Advanced Planning & Optimization (SAP APO) component. This process can be started based on different scenarios: it can handle the detailed scheduling requirements of make-to-stock as well as make-to-order (including variant configuration) or engineer-to-order processes with MRP in SAP ERP. Detailed Scheduling Detailed scheduling (DS) functionality delivers optimized order sequences that can be released for production execution. In the SAP® Advanced SAP APO component, you can view the planning data transferred from the SAP ERP application and execute the detailed scheduling. This includes the scheduling for the sequence of planned orders and the maintenance of available capacity. The planning can be done in a manual way using graphical or tabular approaches, such as the detailed scheduling planning board or the resource planning table. What-if simulations and evaluations of orders sequences support you with flexibility and control. Alternatively, you can use an automated production planning run to determine optimal schedules based on DS heuristics or order sequence optimization. You can also combine manual and automated planning processes. Alert monitoring functionality immediately indicates critical scheduling situations and supports in adjusting the schedules manually or automatically. Production Execution Once you have finalized the detailed production schedule, production execution supports you in all activities required to successfully initiate the production process based on detailed planning and scheduling. Via the core interface, the detailed scheduling data is transferred from the SAP APO component into the SAP ERP application. The planned orders are updated with the detailed dates scheduled in SAP APO. The following steps required for production execution can now be triggered in SAP ERP: the conversion of planned orders into production order, the release of production orders, and the final confirmation for production. Note that this rapid-deployment solution will not focus on the complete configuration of the production planning and production execution processes, but within them focus on activating an MRP run and the data transfer of scheduling data between SAP ERP and SAP APO.

Go Live in 11 Weeks What’s Included – Service Scope Review your existing production planning process. Hold a scoping workshop to understand your detailed requirements and finalize the detailed scope of the project together with you. Maintain the configuration of the designed solution together with a detailed documentation of the implementation. Make extensions in SAP ERP as well as configure the core interface (CIF) to connect the planning board to your existing production planning system.
