What is a preposition?? A preposition is a word which precedes a noun (or a pronoun) to show the noun's (or the pronoun's) relationship to another word in the sentence. Accusative Prepositions In German, there are certain prepositions that trigger the accusative case—meaning, they affect the masculine nouns which come after the preposition. The accusative case always follows these prepositions: durch  through für  for gegen  against ohne  without um  at,around bis until, till FUDGeBOw E=entlang W= wider Won’t be used too much in Level 2, but I’ll show you examples later.

Contractions These accusative prepositions and articles are contracted as long as there is no special emphasis on the article. durch + das = durchs für + das = fürs um + das = ums *There are no other contractions for accusative prepositions!!
