Present Tense in German and … The Danger Zone

Regular Present Tense Verbs ► Regular verbs in German follow a pattern. ► This makes regular verbs very easy to use. ► You just need to learn which ending the verb should have with which pronoun.

Spielen is a regular verb and means play. Firstly, you need to find the stem of the verb To get the stem, you just take the –en off the end of the verb, like so … spielen

ich = ich spiel I e

du = du spiel you st

er = er spiel he t

sie = sie spiel she t

es = es spiel it t

wir = wir spiel we en

ihr= ihr spiel y’all t

sie = sie spiel they en

Irregular Present Tense Verbs ► Irregular verbs are only irregular in the ‘du’ and ‘er/sie/es’ forms. ► This is known as the danger zone because you have to be careful in it. ► There are 3 different dangers you could face in the danger zone.
