I. There are 2 ways to form questions in German… Either…invert the word order & start with the verb…. Kennst du Marta? Bist du neu hier? Or start with a question word… Wo wohnt Marta? Woher kommst du? We will start with the first one… inverting the word order.

II. Forming a Question w/o Question Words: It’s easier than in English!! English uses a form of the phrase “to do” when making questions (Do you learn German?, does he play guitar?, etc.) German does not—you just skip right to the verb: Lernst du Deutsch? Spielst du Gitarre? Machst du Hausaufgaben?
