6 Finland in facts area 338,144 km² population 5,4 million 71 % live in towns biggest cities: Helsinki, Espoo, Tampere about 1,25 million people live in Helsinki area Finland has a Sami (Lapp) population of 8,700 in the north Finnish (91 %) and Swedish (5.4 %) about 1,700 people in Lapland speak Sami (Lapp)
