3 Open Architecture and Spatial Data Infrastructure for Risk Management ORCHESTRAProject start: September 2004Duration: 36 monthsBudget: M€ Funding 8.2 M€Contract type: FP6 Integrated ProjectOpen Architecture and Spatial Data Infrastructure for Risk Management
6 The ORCHESTRA Goals in a Nutshell To overcome key obstacles preventing integrated approaches, e.g.Lack of a common terminologyLack of interoperability, accessibility and availability of data, information and softwareLack of involvement of stakeholdersTo provide a well understood and agreed service infrastructure,in order to make integration much cheaper than it is today, thus enabling end users and their organisations to work on the real problems (environmental management, decision support, data quality, ...).
7 ORCHESTRA ObjectivesTo design an open service-oriented architecture for risk management, with special attention of the integration of spatial and non-spatial data and services. To serve as an INSPIRE pilot project and thus assist and support the development of INSPIRE technical specifications and guidelines. To develop the software infrastructure for enabling risk management servicesTo develop services that are useful for various multi-risk management applications based on the architectureTo validate the ORCHESTRA results in a multi-risk scenarioTo provide software standards for risk management applications.
