3 Comparison of Adverbs Positive: regular adverb
toll schön Comparative: add er – toller schöner Superlative: add am –sten am tollsten am schönsten The adverb modifies the verb. Positive: Die Straβenbahn fährt schnell. Comparative: Das Auto fährt schneller. Superlative: Der Zug fährt am schnellsten.

4 Weird Rules to Remember
When an adjective or adverb ends in d, t, s, β, sch, st, x or z, the ending in the superlative has an additional e. Beispiele: Die Rockmusik ist am interessantesten. Peters Noten sind am schlechtesten.
